Let me take the chance to wish fellow bongs and everyone a very happy new year. May this year be kind on every one, and may Kolkata come out of its intellectual coma.
This April, to honour the starting of a new Bengali year (1423)I have decided to read only Bengali books month-long. I am yet to read some gem of Bengali literature and I plan to read a major part of them in next 30 days.
If you are wondering, no, the last picture is not my to be read pile (who has not read Galpoguccho btw?). My list goes like that
I have tried one or two stories in this series but I never enjoyed Ghonada in school life. Though as I am giving it a second chance I am mesmerized. It is speculative fiction with humor and satire. I can not praise this collection enough.
If you mix Bengali humor with Wodehouse what you get is Shibram. I have read his work in bits and pieces but would really like to read his complete work.
Last but not the least, who does not like the YA books written by Shirshendu. I still buy the Pujabarshikis to read these. There are total 43 novels, and I have read around 30. I will finish the rest (around 120 pages each, so not a big deal) and may reread some old. Beside I plan to read some good old feluda/tenida.
What is your plan for the new year, let me know.
